Dragon's Dreaming

Michael R. Fosburg

(A Student Contributor)

Poetry
Fantasy

There’s understanding
in what we pull
from the ether,
in what dances around
the delicate branches
of our fingers
in a coalescing haze,
rising around us
like a heartborn
mirage.

We will consume
continents, you and I.
I will swallow oceans and you
will carve meals from mountains,
tasting each ancient edifice
spiced with deserts, cooled
by glacial wine,

and we will lie together
in the core of the world,
wreathed in the heart-fire and
twined like lovers,
sated,
led to sleep again.
