The Elf King Waits

Rosalind Casey

(A Student Contributor)

In the Hall of Mirrors...

Poetry
Fantasy

In the Hall of Mirrors
The Elf King waits
Patient as the mountain
For you, his chosen bride
To court you and cosset you
And feed you with dainties
Plucked from the earth

In the Hall of Mirrors
The Elf King waits
With tables dark with sweetmeats
And flowers shaped from stone
To kiss you and cover you
In silken shining spiderwebs
Spun from the air

In the Hall of Mirrors
The Elf King waits
Where candles whisper secrets
And light their own reflections
To claim you and caress you
And grant you immortality
A youthful face for always
Preserved on every surface
In the Hall of Mirrors
